Prayer is a major focus in our lives at St Mary Magdalene
Heavenly father, help us be a growing family of Christ’s followers, united, committed and inspired by your love to know you and to make you known.
Each week, after the Sunday services, members of the Prayer Ministry team are always available to pray with you for any particular need. (see Prayer Ministry for detailed report of a recent training day)
St Mary's Ring of Prayer
We can never pray enough and when there is an urgent need, there can't be enough people praying. For this reason, we have a Ring of Prayer. If you have an urgent prayer request -contact us and the request will be passed around the chain. Call Felicity Smith - Julia Gwyther
Call back when your prayer is answered.
24/7 Prayer Week
In May 2010, we held a week of continual prayer - aimed mainly at praying for our mission partners - This was an inspiring week for many of our church family and we are repeated this in September 2011-as we began our journey in the newly reordered building and in preparation and in subsequent Septembers praying specifically for guidance on the future direction of the church.
The next 24/7 prayer is scheduled for the September 2014.
If you would like to be involved please conact Angela Cattell or Mike Stewart
Prayer Sessions are held throughout the week -
(please see the weekly Church news for current details).
Regular sessions are:
Tuesdays at 8.30am (specifically for Youth work)
Saturdays at Church at 8.30am
Bi-monthly, preceeding the PCC meeting at 6.45pm in the James Chapel
Prayer walking around the parish has happened fortnighly since March 2013 - groups of us meet in pre-arranged roads and pray for the residents , delivering cards to each house inviting responses.
The Prayer Tree
At the back of the Church, is a Prayer Tree and you are invited to add your prayer requests as aleaf on the tree.
Often we are moved to think more about certain issues by listening to others
Thought For The Day
A unique reflection from a faith perspective on topical issues and news events. Speakers from across the world's major faiths offer a spiritual insight rooted in the theology of their own tradition. This brief, uninterrupted interlude has the capacity to plant a seed of thought that stays with listeners during the day. Thought for the Day is broadcast during the Today programme on BBC Radio 4 every morning at around 7.45am - listen to today's thought - http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/radio4/thought/rss.xml
